OUR HISTORY

Inalfa was founded in the Netherlands in 1946 as a metalworking company. Over time, through continuous innovation and in response to market trends, Inalfa has successfully transitioned into the automotive industry. Over the years, Inalfa has pioneered innovative roof system technology and solutions renowned for their reliability, ease of use and seamless integration. With over 800 life patents and a global market share of approximately 25%, Inalfa now supplies its roof systems to major car and truck manufacturers around the world.

Delivering Excellence since 1946

Inalfa was founded in the Netherlands in 1946 in Utrecht by Mr. J.A.M. Burgman. Initially, Inalfa specialized in the production of knitting needles, stair rails and curtain rods made of aluminium, which was a cheaper alternative to copper in the Netherlands in the post-war period. The name "Inalfa" comes from this material and stands for "Industry of Aluminum Fabricates". Taking advantage of subsidies offered by the Dutch government to companies relocating to economically underdeveloped regions, Inalfa moved to Venray, where it is still located today.

Over the years, Inalfa moved from manufacturing consumer goods to photocopiers and automotive parts. In 1974, the company shifted its focus to the production of roof systems for passenger cars. Initially supplying sunroofs for Fiat, Saab and Rover, Inalfa later expanded its clientele to include brands such as Chrysler and Volvo, with many more to follow in the years to come. Throughout the seventies and eighties, Inalfa grew into a multinational company dedicated to supplying top quality roof systems to the automotive industry.

2005

Expanded
into
China

In 2005, Inalfa expanded into China and implemented global standardisation of its products. Since then, Inalfa has focused on developing its core business: world-class roof system solutions.

2011

Ownership
Global
Expansion

In 2011, Inalfa came under new ownership by the Chinese company Beijing Hainanchuan Automotive Parts (BHAP), opening up greater opportunities in the Chinese market. This change was followed by years of sales growth and an expanding global presence.

As Inalfa grew, the organization professionalized in several key areas. These included business excellence, research and innovation, technology standardization, assembly processes, global supplier network and product quality to better serve our customers.
